The Cliff Edge Coalition is calling on Stormont to extend the Benefit Cap beyond 2028.

The Benefit Cap is a limit on the total amount of social security benefits a household can receive, including Housing Benefit. It is currently mitigated in Northern Ireland, which means those who would have been impaxcted by it currently receive a payment in their benefits equal to what they would have lost because of the Benefit Cap.

However, the Benefit Cap mitigation is due to end on the 31st March 2028 and everyone receiving the mitigation will face a cliff edge, with their benefits reduced from the 1st of April.
