NIAPN hosted a webinar presented by David Eyre, Communications Officer for the Poverty Alliance Scotland. The webinar was based on research conducted by FrameWorks for Joseph Rowntree Foundation to look at how we can best frame discussions on poverty.
Research shows that emphasising and connecting with people’s values of compassion and justice is key to framing discussions around poverty. As a sector trying to compel politicians to enact policies that will tackle poverty, and shift public opinions about poverty, it is important to understand common deep seated narratives that act as barriers to change. We have to make deliberate choices about how to make popular the issues and policies that we need addressed to eradicate poverty.
